The Most High

There is a storm coming. The sky has darkened, the wind is gusting, and the tree branches are wildly whipping. Evidence that there are forces beyond my control. Yes, I am safe within the walls of my home, but without there is an environment that is not tame. A reminder that God will not be mocked.

He is high above the heavens. Majestic and holy. “The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.” (Psalm 24:1 NKJV) The Kingdom of Righteousness is His and only His. He is not made in the imaginations of men; rather, He has imagined us and created us for His own good pleasure. It is a good thing His mercies are new every day.

“Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.” (Psalm 24:3-5 NKJV)

As I ponder these words, I find I am confronted with my own idols. Those ideas and imaginings that have set themselves up against the knowledge of God. I say to them, “Come down from there. You cannot remain in God’s place.” I cry out to the God of my salvation and say, “You are God alone, and I commit my will to Thine. Lord, Jesus Christ, have mercy on me, a sinner.”

In repentance and turning I exchange my filthy rags for garments of praise. He has saved me, and I will rejoice in the God of my salvation. O, the wonder of saving grace. O, the peace of submission to the Most High. O, the joy that floods my soul. The King of Glory has come in.

Lift up your heads, O you gates!
And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
The Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O you gates!
Lift up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
He is the King of glory. (Psalm 24:7-10 NKJV)

Dear one, are there ideas you entertain that may not line up with the true knowledge of God? When was the last time you asked Him to search your heart and know your intimate thoughts? He is able and careful and will lead you in the everlasting way. (Psalm 139:23-24)

Until next week, beloved, let the King of Glory come in.
