Made for Worship

As the Sabbath draws to a close and the sun is setting on this clear and cold day, I find myself at rest and not inclined to rush into the week ahead. These few moments of contemplation and meditation are part of the life rhythm God has ordained for me, and I am learning to let Him start the conversation or hold me close in the sweet melody of His presence. Sometimes it is all too easy to allow the future to crowd in and make demands. My list of things to do clamoring for attention. Repose before Him who is my Lord becomes my quiet worship and the place I truly belong.

” Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
    be acceptable in your sight,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.” (Psalm 19:14 ESV)

Into my mind comes a memory of standing on a footbridge in the presence of a rushing river. The sound of it loud enough to drown out conversation. A sense of constancy with a long past and an infinite future. Time was swept away and there was only Creator and created. God receiving praise in the clapping and rushing of the waves He made.

Lord God Almighty, let my life be as the rushing river. Every breath in praise of You. Every mile traveled in the way You intended. Every obstacle overcome providing a brilliant spray to display Your splendor. You alone are worthy. For from You and through You and to You are all things. Glory and honor and praise belong to You.

Dear One, we were made to worship Him in the beauty of His holiness. My prayer for us is that we will see Him high and lifted up and that we will receive His refining fire and be useful in all the work He has ordained for us. (Isaiah 6:1-8)

Until next week beloved, be still in His presence and let awe of Him define the music in your heart.
