Week One

I’m so glad you are joining us! This is our first week’s assignment of daily reading, and I trust that as you prayerfully engage in reading the Word each day you will find a storehouse of seed available to you as the Holy Spirit reveals truth to your heart. You should plan to connect with your accountability partners at least once during the week. An accountability group should be one or two others who are willing to come along with you on this journey and with whom you can share your victories and challenges. You may find that it works best to email, text or talk on the phone toward the end of the week to encourage one another regarding this daily discipline and to strengthen one another with what you find in the Word that is interesting, enlightening and convicting. Remember, “conviction” means to be convinced of the truth. “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1 NASB)

Week One Daily Reading: Galatians chapters 1 through 6. There is no set number of verses to reach each day, as long as you complete all 6 chapters this week. If you would like additional reading, I recommend also reading one Psalm each day.

Regarding journaling: think of it as a written record of your conversation with God, including prayers, thoughts and meditations on the Word and what you sense the Lord saying to you. You may journal every day, or once a week after you have completed the weekly reading. Below are some prompts that may help you get started…

Journaling prompts: 1. Write a prayer of gratitude for the gospel and the miracle of the preserved Word of God in the Bible you hold in your hands. 2. Consider how you have experienced the grace of God in your life and how you are extending grace in your family and community. 3. How is faith working in your life on a daily basis? 4. What are you afraid of and how might it reveal an area where you are not believing God? 5. Consider the connection between fear and legalism? 6. Reflect on the freedom offered in Christ and write a prayer of worship.

I pray for each of you “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.” (Ephesians 1:17-19 NASB)
